Annarita McGovern has practiced law for 19 years in the areas of professional liability, employment law, premises liability, civil rights, government law, and general civil litigation. Annarita provides full-service representation to major publicly held companies, governmental entities, and insurance companies. In this capacity, she has counseled clients on issues ranging from employment matters to real estate issues. She has been retained to represent clients in a wide range of contested litigation matters in Georgia and Tennessee, where she is also licensed and actively practices. She has also served as pro hac vice counsel in Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina, in an effort to provide consistent regional coverage for her clients. Ms. McGovern has obtained successful outcomes for her clients throughout the Southeast, and endeavors to provide in-service training where possible to limit her clients' exposure to liability through proactive measures.

Annarita also has extensive experience representing governmental entities as outside counsel in a variety of areas, including professional liability, employment, civil rights, and premises liability. In this capacity, she has represented attending physicians at the Medical College of Georgia, community service boards, school systems and school boards, the University of Georgia, employees of DFACS, the Department of Human Resources, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Corrections, and county health departments. Annarita has extensive knowledge regarding issues of governmental liability, especially the area of governmental immunity, and has had tremendous success in obtaining successful outcomes for her clients, even when it requires making new law. She has litigated hundreds of cases to completion, has tried cases in state and federal court, has argued before the Georgia Court of Appeals and Supreme Court, has won numerous appeals in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and has successfully opposed petitions for certiorari to the United States Supreme Court. She speaks regularly on issues pertaining to her practice areas, including professional liability, governmental liability, and employment issues.

Annarita is one of the first women to serve on the Board of Directors of Eagle International Associates, Inc., an international organization of lawyers and adjusters that provide seminars for clients each year. She is a frequent speaker and contributor, and has assisted in hosting and coordinating two seminars in Atlanta for a national client base. She was named to Georgia Trend's Legal Elite for 2009. Annarita is a member of Georgia Defense Lawyers, the Defense Research Institute, the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, and the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers. She has played as a violinist with the Atlanta Lawyers' Orchestra, is a founder of the River Eves Fliers, a youth running program at her childrens’ elementary school, and is a half-marathon runner, and triathlete.

Annarita received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in 1991, and her J.D. from the University of Memphis in 1997, after working several years as a writer and an environmental consultant to the EPA. Annarita previously served as a staff attorney for the Chief Judge of the Tennessee Criminal Court of Appeals, and clerked for a civil trial judge in Memphis, Tennessee.
