Ryan Spell joined the Atlanta office of the firm in 2012. Ryan’s law practice focuses on the areas of commercial real estate, commercial lending, secured real estate lending, and loan servicing and distressed assets.
Pursuant to this practice, Ryan assists clients in the financing, acquisition, development, and disposition of commercial real estate, and assists financial institutions in the closing of commercial loans and the acquisition and disposition of loan portfolios. On behalf of distressed debt holders including commercial real estate lenders, private equity funds, and foreign banks, Ryan has participated in all aspects in the life-cycle of problem loans and distressed assets, including the oversight of more than 500 REO closings in over 20 states. Ryan also works on curative title and survey issues with attorneys and title insurance companies responsible for title examination, abstraction, and clearance.
A native of Hahira, Georgia, Ryan graduated from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2006. Ryan obtained his Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Georgia in 2008 and his Juris Doctor (JD) degree in 2011 from Mercer University. Ryan is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the American Bar Association. Ryan and his wife Hannah are the proud parents of two daughters.
