Employment Law and Litigation

Practice Area

Our attorneys in the Employment Law Practice Group have successfully defended many businesses and governmental agencies before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the State Board of Workers Compensation, and courts at both the State and Federal levels. Our employment law team has significant experience in defending suits brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Whistleblower Protection Act, the Equal Pay Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act, among other statutory laws and regulations. Our employment law team has a reputation for aggressively defending suits alleging sexual harassment, wrongful discharge, age, race, religion, and sexual discrimination.

Our employment law team strives to help businesses and governmental entities avoid litigation with a proactive approach and strategic planning. When a lawsuit is filed, our attorneys conduct an investigation and analysis of the claim in order to effectively counsel our clients on a proper response. Our attorneys have vast experience with alternative dispute resolution strategies such as mediation and arbitration. As aggressive litigators, we also recognize that in some matters the best resolution is proceeding to a hearing or trial. As a result, we have tried and obtained favorable decisions for our clients in a variety of employment litigation matters, at the trial level or on appeal.

Our attorneys represent employers in drafting and revising employee handbooks, personnel policies, non-competition agreements, non-solicitation agreements, and employment service contracts. Our goal is to educate our clients to ensure that personnel decisions comply with the applicable law and that hiring and firing decisions are handled appropriately by our clients. One method we use to accomplish this goal is to provide management seminars and employer workshops to inform and ultimately protect our clients. Additionally, we work diligently to keep our clients up to date on the latest developments in the diverse areas of employment and workers’ compensation law.

We understand that businesses and government entities need to run effectively, and we strive to eliminate the undue burden that employment litigation can place upon businesses, both large and small.
