Ed Preston
Ed Preston, a retired litigation partner, dedicated his 47 year career to a diverse range of legal areas including Commercial Litigation, Construction Law, Insurance Defense, Products Liability, Professional Liability, Labor and Employment, Automobile/Motor Carrier Liability, Civil Rights, Clean Water Act, and School Law. Ed’s practice focused on complex litigation in both state and federal courts.
Born in St. Joseph, Michigan, Ed completed his academic journey with distinction. He earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree magna cum laude from Michigan State University in 1975, where he was a member of Phi Eta Sigma. In 1977, he received his Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of Michigan.
Ed’s legal career began in Michigan, where he was admitted to the State Bar in 1978. He practiced law in East Lansing for nine years before relocating to Georgia in 1987, where he was admitted to the State Bar that same year.
Throughout his career, Ed was admitted to practice in numerous courts, including the Superior and State Courts of Georgia (1978 – retirement), the Court of Appeals of Georgia (1991 – retirement), the Georgia Supreme Court (1993 – retirement), the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals (1989 – retirement), the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia (1987 – retirement), the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia (2007 – retirement) and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia (2008 – retirement).
Ed was an active member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Valdosta Bar Association, and Georgia Defense Lawyer’s Association. His leadership skills were evident in his roles as past president of both the Valdosta Bar Association and Valdosta Kiwanis Club.
Throughout his distinguished career, Ed Preston made significant contributions to the legal profession, handling complex litigation matters across a wide spectrum of practice areas.
