George Talley

George T. Talley, a distinguished retired attorney, dedicated his 56-year career to municipal law, workers’ compensation, litigation, and insurance defense.

Born in Adel, Georgia, George completed his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree at the University of South Carolina in 1965, followed by his Juris Doctor (JD) from the same institution in 1968. That year, he was admitted to both the State Bar of Georgia and the South Carolina Bar.

Throughout his career, George served as a registered Mediator and Neutral with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution, specializing in workers’ compensation, municipal and local government law, and general insurance defense matters, including automobile liability, product liability, and construction.

George’s leadership in the legal community was exemplified by his tenure as President of the Valdosta Bar Association. He was also an active member of the American Bar Association, the Georgia Municipal Association, and the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association. From 1993 to 1994, he chaired the Workers’ Compensation Section of the State Bar of Georgia.

His public service included roles as Solicitor of the State Court of Lowndes County from 1972 to 1976 and an impressive 40-year tenure as Valdosta City Attorney. George also contributed to his community by serving two terms on the Board of Directors of Valdosta Country Club, including a term as President in 1986.

George’s experience in Worker’s Compensation was recognized by his inclusion in Best Lawyers® in Georgia from 2012 until his retirement. He also held the Martindale-Hubbell AV® Preeminent™ rating, reflecting the highest level of professional excellence.

Throughout his distinguished career, George T. Talley made significant contributions to the legal profession and his community, leaving a legacy in the field of law.
