
John Kim
John Kim is an attorney in Coleman Talley’s Atlanta office. He advises individuals and businesses on income, estate, and gift tax planning, as well as the formation, governance, and taxation of domestic and international entities, including trusts, corporations, and partnerships.
John’s practice includes preparing estate planning documents for clients across a range of income levels, with a focus on funding and liquidity strategies, succession planning, and estate and gift tax compliance. He also services corporate and private clients on specialized planning matters, including foreign pension plans and legal fee deferral structures.
Prior to joining Coleman Talley, John practiced in the private client group of a boutique trust and estate firm, where he focused on estate planning, business succession, and trust and estate administration. He also served as Of Counsel at an international tax firm, concentrating on cross-border estate planning and international tax compliance.
John earned his Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law, where he received a Tax Law Certificate. During law school, he externed with the Internal Revenue Service’s Office of Chief Counsel in Chicago, supporting the Large Business and International Division on tax controversy matters.
John is admitted to practice in Georgia, Illinois, and Washington, D.C., and is fluent in Korean.
