Coleman Talley LLP hosted its first annual blood drive on Friday, March 12 in partnership with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, blood donations are in short supply, while the need for blood is urgent. Collections took place in LifeSouth’s bloodmobile parked outside of the firm’s office at 109 South Ashley Street. The nine-hour drive resulted in donations from twenty-three volunteers, roughly half of which were Coleman Talley attorneys and staff. Other donors participated from nearby businesses in Downtown Valdosta, including Miller Hardware Company and the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce.
“Coleman Talley is proud to find ways to be involved and give back to the greater Valdosta community,” said Partner Greg Talley. “We know these donations will go on to save lives and provide a much-needed resource in the time of COVID.”
The resulting pints of blood will go directly to South Georgia Medical Center to potentially save more than seventy lives. As an extra incentive to participants, all collections were tested for COVID-19 antibodies. LifeSouth is a non-profit community blood bank serving hospitals in Georgia, Florida, and Alabama.
