Coleman Talley Partner Tim Tanner facilitated a virtual training course on November 17 on the topic of Downtown Development Authorities. The program was hosted by the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government in partnership with the Georgia Municipal Association. Attendees included statewide city officials and those that serve on downtown development authorities.
In his presentation, Tim covered the basics of downtown development authorities, from their foundational elements to the operational and legal side. Subject matter included the purpose and powers of an authority, the applicable jurisdiction, potential ethical issues, and open meetings and records. Tim represents a number of governmental entities including municipalities and development authorities across South Georgia.
