Coleman Talley Partner Tim Tanner served as the instructor for a virtual Downtown Development Authority training course on June 22. The interactive online class was hosted by the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government in partnership with the Georgia Municipal Association. Tim is a regular speaker on the topic, presenting for the fourth time on the introductory course. Participants included elected and non-elected city officials across the state of Georgia.
In the curriculum, Tim covered the basics of downtown development authorities, from their foundation to the operational and legal aspects. Subject matter included the purpose and powers of an authority, the applicable jurisdiction, potential ethical issues, and open meetings and records. Tim represents a number of governmental entities, including municipalities and development authorities across South Georgia.
