Coleman Talley Partner Tim Tanner served as the instructor for a virtual Downtown Development Authority training course on January 27. The interactive online class was hosted by the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government in partnership with the Georgia Municipal Association. Attendees included statewide city officials and citizens that serve on downtown development authorities.
In his presentation, Tim covered the basics of downtown development authorities, from their foundation to the operational and legal aspects. Subject matter included the purpose and powers of an authority, the applicable jurisdiction, potential ethical issues, and open meetings and records. Tim represents a number of governmental entities, including municipalities and development authorities across South Georgia.
